When I wrote 480 Codorus Street, it was a courageous act of self-preservation.
Through the toughest of times, I was blessed with a powerful support system from those closest to me. My mother’s unwavering faith and unconditional love helped buoy my spirits when hope seemed lost - from her wisdom came understanding.
In contrast to that, my husband Aaron's compassionate presence allowed him into places even his own heart could not venture on its own. He was my rock through every chapter of this journey.
We’ve faced many trials together, but everything we endured only brought us closer as he stood steadfastly by my side through all our memories, struggles, and losses alike.
After plenty of soul-searching, I chose to take up the gauntlet of life's toughest challenges. When fear seized my heart and hardship clouded my judgment — it was resilience that gave me strength beyond measure.
It enabled me to persist against all odds in pursuit of a future where success was more than just mere achievement. The future I wanted was the one where I put myself first, where I fought for my mother’s beliefs in me, and where I fought for my children — that was what success looked like to me.
When I made the decision to write this I knew that doing so would dredge up painful memories, yet it would also serve as an encouraging reminder for future generations that regardless of what obstacles come your way, you can overcome them with resilience and determination.
This fight begins with myself; one written at 480 Codorus Street as a testament for generations to come.
